Thus far, we’ve tested the Intel DP55KG and GIGABYTE GA-P55-UD5 which land at the lower pricing end of the Tier 3. The DP55KG’s offers jet black PCB with a cool looking Skull design on the board. But, the KG does look a tad sparse with all the extra space there at the bottom even with all the connectable ports which might confuse the look a bit. You can expect above average audio thanks to some solid drivers.
Of the two, the UD5 overclocks the best topping out at around 220MHz CPU Bus Clock speeds. The BIOS is very detailed for this particular feature. There’s a lot of settings that could help, but you’ll find it does well without getting too particular with the minute settings. I found the audio performance of the UD5 very acceptable. To gauge it’s quality, it’s just a tiny bit under the ASRock’s audio solution.
