
Today, there are more platter drives than any other computer component. We just can’t seem to have enough storage, or so marketing says. That’s also due in part to the dramatic drops hard drive prices and capacities increases seen over the last two years. Many of them are simply too super cheap and large to pass up. Price drops have also coincided with the release of Solid State Drive technology.
As more SSDs reach the market offering better performance and modest capacities, expect platter drives to continue to drop in price to hold on to as much of the market as possible.
